I have also studied and practiced bonsai for more than 30 years.
Now for the first time Since 2023 I have been providing plants for people who want to show cut flowers and bonsai. I have provided quality rooted cuttings to those that want to grow heirloom chrysanthemums and chrysanthemums with newer genetics. The collection continues to grow and there are now more than 300 to choose from. I am offering over 25 varieties of small hostas. Other accent and companion plants are also offered.
Chrysanthemums (or mums) were first cultivated in China (15th century B.C.) and later in Japan (around 8th century A.D.). Chrysanthemums were introduced to the west until the 17th century. “Kiku” and “Giboshi” are the two Japanese words used in the name of my business.
“Kiku” means Chrysanthemum. “Kiku Ningyō” is the term used for the large Chrysanthemums that you would see in a flower show where there are single disbudded blooms that look like dolls. Ningyō is the Japanese word for doll. Some Chrysanthemums can also be grown into bonsai called Kiku Bonsai. Artists can grow them old and can create a work of art in less than one year. This dwarf group of Chrysanthemums is also known as gnomes.
Though you may not want to accent Kiku Bonsai with a “Giboshi”, which means Hosta, you should consider having a complete display for your suitable bonsai and add an accent plant such as a Hosta or other perennials offered here.
